A possible new lead into the disappearance of Ben Needham has come to light after an appeal on Greek TV by his mother Kerry. A woman sent a photograph of a boy who she said had been "bought" by a family she met on holiday.

The mother of Ben Needham, speaking exclusively to Calendar, said she wants the Greek authorities to investigate the case of Maria, a four-year-old girl recovered from a Roma camp, to see if there are any connections to the disappearance of her son 22 years ago.

25 years after her son went missing, Ben Needham's mother Kerry has told 5 News that she's hopeful new police inquiries will finally give her some answers. The toddler went missing in Kos in 1991. British police have now returned to the Greek island - and the officer leading the team says he believes someone there knows what happened to Ben.

For 25 years, Ben Needham's mum has been looking for answers as to why the toddler disappeared on the Greek island of Kos - and where he might be now. Today - police began excavation work outside the house where he was last seen alive, following a fresh line of inquiry suggesting he may have been accidentally knocked over and buried by a mechanical digger.

Police describe the area they are searching for the body of Ben Needham, close to where it is feared he may have been crushed to death by a digger.  Ben, from Sheffield, was 21 months old when he disappeared on the Greek island of Kos on 24 July 1991.  With the aid of drone footage, Det Insp Jon Cousins, South Yorkshire Police, explains the process.

The Detective Inspector leading the search for Ben Needham believes the missing tot died in an accident close to the farmhouse at the centre of a police hunt in Kos, Greece. Jon Cousins also revealed that a significant item, believed to have been in Ben’s possession at the time of his disappearance, had been found during the search on the Greek island of Kos.

The mother of Ben Needham is clinging to the hope he is still alive.  We asked a forensic artist to create an image of how Ben would look now, 30 years after he vanished on Kos, Greece.  Looking at the image, mum Kerry said: “This is how I’ve imagined him.”
